On October 27, the ZPMC Middle East subsidiary won the bid for the comprehensive maintenance project of COSCO SHIPPING’s Abu Dhabi terminal equipment, including 11 quay cranes, 32 automated rail cranes, access control gate systems, 66 internal trucks, reach stackers, and stackers And other mobile machinery and equipment and terminal related facilities maintenance work.
The terminal is located in Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi, UAE. It is an important hub port in the Middle East. It is located at the throat of a shipping hub in West Asia and an important fulcrum along the “Belt and Road” route. All port equipment and automation systems are independently designed and built by Zhenhua Heavy Industry.
The equipment arrived in August 2018. After 16 months, the company completed the commissioning and acceptance of all automated terminal quay cranes, rail cranes and automation systems in advance.
Carrying out “One Belt One Road” cooperation
In accordance with Abu Dhabi’s 2030 economic vision (promoting growth, attracting investment, supporting economic diversification and creating sustainable employment opportunities), Abu Dhabi Ports and COSCO SHIPPING Ports Limited (CSP) jointly established CSP Abu Dhabi Container Terminal was put into use on December 10, 2018.
This deep-water terminal is the first international greenfield subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING Ports, and COSCO SHIPPING Ports is a subsidiary of COSCO Shipping, the world’s largest integrated shipping company.
The CSP Abu Dhabi Terminal has a designed handling capacity of 2.5 million TEUs (20-foot standard containers) at the 1,200-meter terminal, and the initial handling capacity is 1.5 million TEUs. The water depth of the wharf is 16.5 meters, and it can usually dock very large ships with more than 20,000 TEUs.
The largest container freight terminal in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region
The additional terminal includes the largest container freight station (CFS) in the region with an area of 275,000 square meters.
This state-of-the-art terminal is equipped with facilities for fully and partially bonded containerized cargo, providing a full set of container packaging services, short-term storage of split cargo, and easy connection to the container terminal of Khalifa Port.
